Pallet Rack, Rack Backing, and Safety Netting Installation at GE Healthcare in Salt Lake City, Utah

Material Handling USA designed and installed a comprehensive warehouse storage and safety system at GE Healthcare’s distribution facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. The project combined three integrated products: 18-foot tall selective pallet rack, wire mesh rack backing panels, and safety netting between rack aisles.

GE Healthcare is a leading global medical technology and pharmaceutical diagnostics innovator. Their Salt Lake City facility at 640 N Wright Brothers Drive supports regional distribution of critical healthcare technology and medical supplies.

The Project

The installation includes 74+ upright frames standing 18 feet tall with reinforced diagonal bracing, connected by 228 heavy-duty beams rated at 5,460 pounds per pair. Over 340 wire mesh decking panels provide solid shelf surfaces on every beam level. Wire mesh rack backing panels prevent product from falling through the back of rack bays, while safety netting installed between aisles catches any falling items and protects workers in adjacent zones.

The system uses both 48-inch deep and 36-inch deep rack configurations to accommodate different pallet sizes and product types. Row spacers connect back-to-back frame rows for lateral stability, and every upright is anchored to the concrete floor with engineered baseplates.
