Pallet Rack Cage Design Considerations
Pallet rack security enclosures require careful planning to ensure the cage integrates properly with your existing racking system. Standard wire mesh panels mount directly to rack uprights using specially designed brackets, eliminating the need for separate posts and reducing material costs. For free-standing configurations, posts anchor to the floor between rack bays.
Height is a critical design factor. Most pallet rack cages extend from floor to ceiling or just above the top beam level to prevent over-the-top access. For rack systems taller than 12 feet, panels stack vertically between posts to reach the required height. Ceiling panels close off the top when full enclosure is needed.
Door placement depends on how product moves in and out of the secured area. Single hinged doors work for personnel access, while sliding doors are preferred when forklifts need to enter the cage. Double sliding doors provide the widest clear opening for high-traffic areas. Each door type accepts the same electronic lock and access control options.
Ventilation and sprinkler compliance are built into every pallet rack cage design. Wire mesh panels maintain full airflow and allow fire suppression systems to function without modification. This avoids the additional fire protection costs associated with solid-wall enclosures in warehouse environments.
Custom Pallet Rack Integration
Every pallet rack layout is different. Our design team creates a custom security cage plan that fits your specific rack configuration, bay spacing, and access requirements.
