Protect High-Value Inventory with Wire Mesh Security

Warehouse shrinkage costs U.S. businesses billions of dollars each year. Wire mesh security cages create physical barriers around high-value inventory, controlled materials, and restricted zones within your warehouse — reducing theft, controlling access, and providing visual accountability.

Material Handling USA designs and installs warehouse security enclosures ranging from small single-bay cages to full perimeter partitions enclosing thousands of square feet. Systems from WireCrafters and SpaceGuard use the same modular panel design — meaning you can start with one cage and expand your security perimeter as needed.

Common Warehouse Security Applications

  • High-value inventory zones — electronics, automotive parts, liquor, luxury goods
  • Pallet rack enclosures — surround pallet racks with wire mesh panels, doors on the pick face
  • Receiving and staging areas — secure incoming shipments until verified and put away
  • Returns processing — isolate returned merchandise from active inventory
  • Hazardous material storage — aerosol cans, chemicals, flammable items
  • Employee personal storage — secure areas for worker belongings and equipment

Warehouse Cage Configurations

Stand-Alone Enclosure

A four-wall cage with ceiling and door(s) placed anywhere on the warehouse floor. Common sizes range from 10×10 to 30×40 feet. Best for securing a specific inventory zone within a larger open warehouse.

Wall-Attached Partition

Wire mesh panels extend from existing walls to create enclosed areas along the perimeter of the warehouse. Uses the building wall as one or two sides of the enclosure, reducing panel count and cost.

Pallet Rack Enclosure

Wire mesh panels attach directly to pallet rack uprights using offset brackets. Doors on the pick face allow controlled access. Back and end panels with ceiling close the enclosure completely.

Door Options for Warehouse Cages

Warehouse cages need doors sized for the equipment passing through them. Options include:

Personnel Doors (3–4 ft)

Standard hinged or sliding doors for walk-in access. Electronic locks for controlled entry.

Double Doors (6–8 ft)

Wide enough for pallet jacks and hand trucks. One active leaf, one inactive leaf with cane bolt.

Sliding Doors (5–10 ft)

For forklift access and large equipment. Motorized openers available with remote controls and safety sensors.

Tunnel Doors

No overhead obstruction — ideal for areas with overhead cranes or low clearance. Floor casters support the leading edge.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a warehouse security cage cost?

A basic 10×10-foot enclosure with door typically costs $2,000–$5,000. Medium enclosures (20×20 feet) run $5,000–$12,000. Larger partitions and pallet rack enclosures are custom quoted based on dimensions, door count, ceiling requirements, and access control features. We provide free estimates.

Can warehouse cages attach to pallet rack?

Yes. Wire mesh panels mount directly to pallet rack uprights using offset brackets. This creates a secure enclosure around existing racking without needing separate posts. Doors install on the pick face for controlled access. Both WireCrafters and SpaceGuard make rack-mounted panel systems.

How tall can warehouse security cages be?

Standard post heights are 8, 10, and 12 feet. Custom posts are available up to 50 feet for facilities with high ceilings. For very tall enclosures, ceilings can span up to 30 feet clear. Extended heights exceeding 30 feet use internal horizontal ceiling tubes for support.

Do I need a ceiling on my warehouse cage?

It depends on your security requirements. Open-top cages are simpler and less expensive, but anyone can climb over. Ceilings prevent over-the-wall access and are required for DEA compliance, high-value inventory, and controlled substance storage. We recommend ceilings for any cage storing items worth the effort of climbing.

Can warehouse cages be relocated?

Yes. The modular panel system disassembles and reassembles in a new location. You only need to re-anchor the posts. This is a major advantage over permanent walls — if your warehouse layout changes, the security cage moves with it.
