Without a dedicated racking system, flooring materials were stored on the ground or stacked on pallets, limiting vertical space usage and making it difficult to locate specific products when customers were waiting. The store needed apallet rack systemthat would organize inventory vertically, keep heavy flooring materials safely off the floor, and speed up the restocking process — all within the existing warehouse footprint behind the showroom.
The Solution
Material Handling USA designed and installed a selective pallet rack system sized to fit the backroom warehouse at Ogden’s Flooring and Design in Roy. The system features three 12-foot tall by 42-inch deep teardrop-style upright frames with green powder-coat finish, creating two bays of rack against the warehouse wall.
Twelve 8-foot orange step beams span the uprights across four beam levels, giving the store multiple shelf heights for different flooring product sizes — taller openings at the bottom for bulky carpet rolls and pallet loads, withstand ard spacing above for boxed vinyl, laminate, and tile. Every beam level is fitted with 42-by-46-inch wire mesh decking, providing solid shelf surfaces that support palletized loads, allow fire sprinkler penetration for code compliance, and make it easy to visually check inventory from below.
The rack configuration provides direct access to every storage position from the front, so warehouse staff can pull specific products quickly when customers are ready to purchase. Freight delivery was co or dinated directly to the Roy location, with professional installation completing the project on schedule.
