About the project
Fetzer Architectural Woodwork is a millwork and cabinetry manufacturer based at 6223 W. Double Eagle Circle in West Valley City, Utah. Its receiving and central storehouse departments manage and rack the components every production run needs, including small, high-turnover cutting tools such as drill bits, router bits and CNC tooling stored right alongside the assembly hardware that goes into finished millwork.
Material Handling USA supplied and installed a high-density mobile shelving system for the storeroom: carriages on floor rail carrying both open bin shelving for loose parts and a bank of shallow front-opening drawers for fasteners, sized and positioned to the department’s own layout.

The situation
A millwork shop’s receiving and storehouse departments handle a wide mix of small components: cutting tools that wear and get replaced often, and the screws, brackets and fasteners that go into every cabinet and assembly. Loose bins on static shelving get disorganized quickly when several people are pulling parts throughout the day, and a storeroom built on static shelving runs out of usable floor space long before it runs out of parts to store.
Consolidating that storage onto mobile carriages lets the department keep tools and hardware in fixed, labeled locations while reclaiming the aisle space that static shelving would otherwise need for every single row.

What Material Handling USA supplied
Material Handling USA supplied a complete high-density mobile shelving system for the storeroom: carriages running on floor rail, open bin-style shelving for cutting tools and larger components, and banks of shallow front-opening drawers sized for fasteners and small hardware. The system was quoted to the department’s own component list and storeroom footprint.
Freight, inside delivery, installation by our own crew and removal of all packaging were included in the project, so the storeroom went from delivery to daily use with a single coordinated visit.

How a tool and hardware storeroom gets specified
A storeroom holding both cutting tools and fastener hardware starts with an inventory of what has to be stored: how many part types, how small the smallest items are, and how often each is restocked. That inventory decides the mix of shelf styles — open bins for larger or bulkier tools, shallow drawers for loose fasteners — before the mobile carriage count and aisle width are set.
On this project Fetzer’s receiving and storehouse teams supplied their own component list and storeroom dimensions, and the mobile system was quoted to complete that layout: a run of carriages long enough to hold the full parts inventory, with a raised deck and ramp built into the middle of the run where the floor plan required it.
The last step is checking floor loading. A fully stocked hardware and tooling system concentrates real weight over a small footprint, so the floor capacity and the rail anchoring method are confirmed before the order goes into production.
