Load Containment That Protects Every Shipment
Stretch wrap and shrink film are the last line of defense between a finished pallet or bundled product and a rough ride through the supply chain. A properly wrapped load resists shifting on the truck, keeps cartons from separating on the dock, and protects contents from dust, moisture, and tampering. An under-wrapped or poorly stretched pallet is one of the most common causes of in-transit damage claims and warehouse racking accidents caused by falling loads.
Material Handling USA stocks a full range of stretch wrap and shrink film products — hand rolls, machine rolls, pre-stretched film, colored and specialty film, and shrink film and bags — at wholesale pricing with no minimum order. Whether you wrap five pallets a day by hand or run an automated turntable wrapper on a high-volume line, we carry the gauge, width, and length combination your operation needs, in stock and ready to ship same-day.
Proper film storage matters as much as film selection. Keep rolls upright, away from direct sunlight and extreme heat, which can degrade cling and stretch performance before the roll is ever used. Rotate stock so older rolls are used first, and store cores off the floor to prevent moisture damage in humid warehouses. A film that performs perfectly in the spec sheet can still fail on the pallet if it was stored improperly for months in a hot trailer or an uninsulated storage yard.
Hand Stretch Wrap
Hand stretch wrap is the standard for lower-volume palletizing, mixed-carton loads, and any operation that needs the flexibility to wrap odd-shaped or partial pallets without a machine. Our hand film is offered in 60-gauge, 70-gauge, 80-gauge, and 90-gauge cast and blown film, in standard 18-inch and 20-inch widths, on both extended-core (handled) and mini-core cores.
Cast film unwinds quietly, offers excellent clarity for barcode scanning through the wrap, and is the most economical choice for general-purpose bundling. Blown film has higher puncture and tear resistance and better cling and load-holding force, making it the better choice for loads with sharp corners, rebar, lumber, or irregular stacking. Extended-core rolls with molded handles reduce hand fatigue and let a single worker wrap a standard pallet in under a minute.
Core size matters more than most buyers expect. A standard-core roll fits a basic hand dispenser, while an extended-core roll with a built-in handle lets a worker wrap without a separate dispenser tool at all — useful for teams that move between wrapping stations or wrap in the trailer during loading. If your team wraps dozens of pallets a shift, the extended-core handle alone can meaningfully cut wrap time and reduce wrist strain over a full day.
Machine Wrap & Pre-Stretched Film
For operations wrapping 20 or more pallets a day, a turntable, rotary arm, or orbital stretch wrapper cuts labor and delivers a more consistent wrap force than hand-wrapping. Machine film comes in wider rolls (typically 20 inches) on standard 3-inch cores sized to fit power pre-stretch and roller-fed wrapping equipment.
Pre-stretched film is mechanically stretched at the factory before it is rolled, delivering 100–250% pre-stretch without requiring a machine with power pre-stretch rollers. It works on manual dispensers and low-cost turntables, cuts film usage per pallet by up to half compared to unstretched film, and reduces the risk of over-tensioning a load and crushing lightweight cartons. It is a practical upgrade for growing operations that are not yet ready to invest in a fully automated wrapper.
Colored & Specialty Stretch Film
Beyond clear film, we stock colored stretch wrap in black, blue, red, and other colors for warehouses that use color-coding to separate SKUs, shifts, destinations, or hold/quarantine status on the floor. Opaque black film also shields contents from view and UV light, which is useful for outdoor storage or shipments containing light-sensitive or high-value goods that shouldn’t be identifiable at a glance.
Other specialty options include anti-static film for electronics and static-sensitive components, vented/perforated film for loads that need airflow (produce, plants), and UV-inhibited film rated for extended outdoor exposure on yard or lot storage. Let us know the application and we’ll match the right film to it.
Shrink Film, Shrink Bags & Heat-Seal Equipment
Shrink film is a different product from stretch wrap: instead of stretching around a load, it shrinks tight against a product or bundle when heat is applied, producing a tamper-evident, weather-resistant seal. We stock both PVC shrink film, which is economical and works well for retail bundling and light-duty use, and polyolefin (POF) shrink film, which is stronger, clearer, puncture-resistant, and safe to use with a heat gun without the odor and fumes PVC can produce.
Shrink bags are pre-formed shrink film bags sized for irregular products, multi-packs, or anything too awkward to wrap efficiently from a roll — just insert the product, seal the open end, and shrink. For equipment, we carry hand-held heat guns for occasional or low-volume shrinking, tabletop L-bar sealers with heat guns for retail bundling, and heavier shrink film dispensers with cutter bars for production-line use.
When choosing between PVC and polyolefin, weigh cost against durability: PVC is the lower-cost option and shrinks at a lower temperature, making it forgiving for occasional users with a basic heat gun, but it can become brittle in cold storage and gives off more odor when heated. Polyolefin costs more per roll but resists punctures better, stays flexible in cold environments, and is the better choice for food-adjacent or higher-value products where a clean, professional seal matters.
Applications
E-Commerce & Fulfillment
High order volume means high pallet-wrap volume. Pre-stretched and machine film keep per-pallet film cost down while mixed-SKU pallets headed to parcel carriers stay stable through multiple touchpoints.
Food & Beverage Distribution
Vented and perforated film allows airflow for produce pallets, while standard cling film secures palletized cases for cold-storage and dock-to-dock transfers.
Manufacturing & Industrial
Heavier-gauge blown film and steel-core-friendly wraps hold together palletized parts, coils, and components with sharp edges that would puncture lighter film.
Retail & Multi-Pack Bundling
Shrink film and shrink bags create a clean, sealed, tamper-evident package for multi-packs and promotional bundles headed to retail shelves.
Choosing the Right Film for Your Application
The right film comes down to load weight, wrap volume, and what you’re protecting against. Use this as a starting point, then call us if you want a specific recommendation for your product.
Wrapping under 20 pallets/day
Hand stretch wrap, 70–80 gauge cast or blown film, extended-core rolls with handles. Upgrade to pre-stretched hand film if your team is wrapping heavy or high-volume loads by hand.
Wrapping 20+ pallets/day
Machine film on a turntable or rotary-arm wrapper, or pre-stretched roll film if you don’t have power pre-stretch rollers yet. Lower film cost per pallet and more consistent wrap tension than hand-wrapping at this volume.
Sharp corners, rebar, lumber
Blown film in a higher gauge (80–90) for better puncture and tear resistance than cast film at the same thickness.
Retail bundling or tamper-evidence
Shrink film or pre-formed shrink bags with a heat gun or L-bar sealer — the sealed, form-fitting shrink produces a cleaner retail presentation than stretch wrap.
How to Wrap a Pallet Properly
Most load-shift damage comes from under-wrapping, not a film failure. These four steps apply whether you are wrapping by hand or running a machine.
Anchor the Base
Secure the film to the pallet base with 2–3 wraps before working upward, so the load has something to hold against.
Wrap Bottom to Top
Overlap each pass by 50% and apply consistent tension — too loose and the load shifts, too tight and light cartons crush.
Reinforce the Top
Add extra wraps at the top of the load where forklift tines and stacking put the most stress on the film.
Lock It Off
Tuck or tape the tail end so the wrap doesn’t unravel in transit, then inspect for tears before the pallet ships.

Frequently Asked Questions
For most general-purpose pallets under 20 pallets a day, 70–80 gauge cast or blown hand film is the standard choice. Go to 90 gauge or higher for heavy, sharp-edged, or unstable loads.
Cast film is clearer, quieter to unwind, and less expensive — a good default for general bundling. Blown film has higher puncture and tear resistance and stronger cling, making it better for loads with sharp corners or irregular stacking.
Yes. Pre-stretched film is stretched at the factory, so it delivers the load-holding force of machine-stretched film using nothing more than a hand dispenser or basic turntable — no power pre-stretch rollers required.
Stretch wrap is mechanically stretched and wrapped around a load at room temperature to hold it together. Shrink film is applied loosely, then heated with a heat gun or shrink tunnel so it shrinks tight against the product, producing a sealed, tamper-evident wrap.
Both. We sell individual rolls for smaller operations and full cases or pallets at wholesale pricing for high-volume shippers, with no minimum order required either way.
