Files, music, library and general school storage

About the project

Logan High School needed mobile shelving in seven different rooms as part of a building project: a files room, a general storage room, a music storage room, an office, a library and practice room, and two additional storage rooms.

Material Handling USA supplied a mechanical mobile shelving system to each room’s individual layout drawing, built to seven shelf levels with two dividers per shelf, with hanging folder frames in the files room. The project was coordinated through MHTN Architects, with delivery and installation completed in about four to six weeks.

Project scope at a glance

Seven rooms, seven systems

Each room received its own mobile shelving system sized to that room’s layout drawing: files, general storage, music, office, library/practice, and two additional storage rooms.

Seven shelf levels with dividers

Shelving throughout was built to seven shelf levels with two dividers per shelf for organized, categorized storage.

Hanging folder frames in the files room

The files room specifically included hanging folder frames, sized for letter and box-size hanging files.

Mechanical handwheel drive

Carriages throughout the building move on a three-spoke handwheel for quiet, low-effort access.

Coordinated through the project architect

The systems were specified and installed as part of a school building project, coordinated with MHTN Architects.

Installed by our crew

Freight, inside delivery, full installation and packaging removal were included for all seven rooms.

The situation

A high school building project touches many different kinds of storage at once: administrative files, music department instruments and materials, library and practice room storage, and general supply rooms. Each of those rooms has a different shape and a different storage need, but a school renovation is the right time to plan all of them together rather than one at a time later.

Rather than a single generic shelving order, this project specified a separate mobile shelving layout for each of the seven rooms, matched to that room’s dimensions and function.

What Material Handling USA supplied

Material Handling USA supplied and installed mechanical mobile shelving in seven separate rooms at Logan High School, each built to that room’s layout drawing. Shelving throughout used seven shelf levels with two dividers per shelf, with the files room specifically including hanging folder frames sized for letter and box-size hanging files.

The project was coordinated through MHTN Architects as the project architect, with Material Handling USA supplying and installing the shelving systems to the building’s drawings and specifications.

What the school gained

Seven rooms of organized storage

Files, music, library, office and general storage rooms all gained mobile shelving matched to their specific function.

🛠

Storage planned into the building project

Specifying mobile shelving for each room during the building project meant every room got a system sized to its actual use, not a one-size-fits-all layout.

📚

Better organized files and materials

Shelf dividers and hanging folder frames keep files, music materials and supplies sorted by category.

Coordinated with the project architect

Working with MHTN Architects kept the shelving installation on schedule with the rest of the building project.

Frequently asked questions

Can a single project include mobile shelving for multiple rooms?
Yes, as on this project, which specified a separate mobile shelving system for each of seven rooms, matched to that room’s own layout drawing.
Who coordinates mobile shelving on a school building project?
Typically the project architect, who specifies the shelving as part of the building drawings. This project was coordinated through MHTN Architects.
What is a hanging folder frame?
A frame that mounts inside a mobile shelving section to hold letter or box-size hanging files, used in this project’s files room specifically.
Can different rooms in the same project use different shelving specifications?
Yes. Each room in this project was sized and specified individually rather than using one layout for the whole building.
How long does a multi-room project like this take to install?
This project’s delivery and installation across all seven rooms ran about four to six weeks.
Does every room need the same shelf configuration?
No. Shelf levels, dividers and accessories like hanging folder frames can be specified separately for each room based on what it stores.
Can mobile shelving be added to just one room now and more rooms later?
Yes. While this project specified all seven rooms together, mobile shelving can also be added room by room as budgets or renovation phases allow.
