Barriers That Take Up No Floor Space
A wall mount RETRACTA-BELT is a belt cassette that fixes to a wall, a column, a rack upright or any other surface and pulls a retractable belt across an opening. When the belt retracts, the barrier disappears — there is no post standing in the aisle, nothing to store in a back room between uses, and nothing for a forklift to knock over or for a visitor to walk off with.
That is why wall mounts are the right answer for closures that happen in the same place over and over: a checkout lane, a stairwell, a doorway, a rack aisle during replenishment, a charging bay, a parking ramp, a dock door. Visiontron builds the units in Holtsville, New York, and Material Handling USA stocks and ships the range nationwide.
There are six series to choose from and the choice is driven by three things: how far the belt has to reach, what the mounting surface is, and how the belt is going to terminate on the other side. The Six Wall Mount Series
Every model below is a current Visiontron product with published specifications. Case sizes, weights and finishes come straight from the manufacturer’s specification sheets.
WM700 Series — 10′ Premium Wall MountThe discreet premium unit for counters, doorways and short-span closures. Steel or stainless steel case measuring 2.5″ diameter by 4.75″ high, 2 lbs, with a 10′ belt. Three stock finishes (smooth black, satin stainless steel, polished chrome), 19 specialty finishes and 200+ RAL powder-coat colors.
WM412 Series — 15′, 20′, 25′ & 30′The long-span workhorse. High-impact polycarbonate case, 4.5″ square wide by 4″ square high, 5 lbs, in black, red or safety yellow. Belt lengths of 15′, 20′, 25′ and 30′ with the widest mounting choice of any wall mount in the line.
WM100 PRIME Series — 10′ Value Wall MountThe cost-conscious option with the core RETRACTA-BELT mechanism. Steel or stainless steel case, 2.5″ wide by 5.75″ high, 2 lbs, 10′ belt, smooth black or polished stainless steel stock finishes plus 15 specialty finishes. Backed by a three-year warranty.
WM5000 Series — 50′ Hand-Crank Wall MountA rugged manual barrier for wide openings. All-aluminum construction including the spool mechanism and belt end, 7.5625″ wide by 3.5625″ high (excluding the crank), 10 lbs, outdoor-ready smooth black. Requires the heavy-duty HDRE receiving end.
WM6500 Series — 65′ Utility Wall MountThe longest span in the line. Aluminum head 8″ wide by 5.5″ high, 15 lbs (17 lbs with the plate), outdoor-ready smooth black. Ships with a loop belt end as standard and requires the WP6500 swivel bracket so the belt can pull out at any angle.
BCB412 — Between-Car BarriersA specialized wall mount for rail platforms. WM412 Dimensions
The WM412 is the most commonly specified head, so it is worth knowing the footprint before you commit to a location: a 4.5″ square case, 4″ deep off the wall, on a mounting plate with four fastener holes. The drawing below is the manufacturer’s dimensional sheet.
One head, several locations
The removable and magnetic plates are the most underused part of the system. Because the head lifts off its plate, you can buy one WM412 and four plates and cover four openings for a fraction of the cost of four barriers. Order the plates with the units so the finishes match.
Mounting Options
The mounting surface usually decides the specification, not the belt. Visiontron publishes eight mounting options across the wall mount range; these are the ones we specify most often.
Fixed / Removable Wall PlateThe standard mount. The plate screws to the wall and the head lifts off it, so one unit can be moved between plates around the building. Buy extra plates for every location you want to cover — they are far cheaper than extra heads.
Magnet / Clip Plate (WP412M)A 1 lb plate in smooth black, safety yellow or red for WM412 units. The magnet grabs steel racking, columns and elevator jambs with no drilling, and the integral clip hooks into the holes or slots found on most shelving uprights.
Hose Clamp MountFor round columns, posts and pipe where a flat plate will not sit. The clamp wraps the column and holds the head square to it, which is how most parking-structure and stadium columns get a barrier without touching the concrete.
Recessed Wall Mount with DoorThe head sits inside the wall cavity behind a flush door so nothing protrudes into the walkway. Specified in retail, hospitality and healthcare interiors where a surface-mounted case would read as clutter. Plan this one before the drywall goes up.
Magnetic Mount in ServiceA WM412 on a magnet plate with a black/yellow diagonal belt is the fastest way to close a warehouse aisle, a machine cell or a dock door. No anchors, no patching, and the unit relocates in seconds when the layout changes.
WM700 on a Magnetic PlateThe smaller 10′ premium head is also available on a magnetic plate, plus removable plate, hose clamp and recessed door options — useful when a polished finish is required but the mounting surface cannot be drilled.
Reading the WM412 Feature Callouts
The diagram beside this text is the manufacturer’s own callout sheet for the WM412. It shows the three belt-end styles the head can be ordered with, the mounting plate options on the back of the case, and the belt choices — the three variables that turn one model number into the exact barrier your opening needs.
When you specify a wall mount, write those three down alongside the model: series and belt length, mounting style, belt end and receiving end. Every incomplete order we see is missing one of them — usually the receiving end, which arrives as a separate line item.
Belt Ends, Receiving Ends & Replacement Parts
The belt has to land on something. Match the belt end to the receiver — or choose a belt end that needs no receiver at all.

Standard Receiving End (RE)A 1 lb smooth-black plastic receiver, the most cost-effective way to terminate a belt line. Works with every RETRACTA-BELT post and wall mount fitted with a standard universal belt end, and with most other manufacturers’ standard belt ends.
Magnetic Belt End Receiver (RE-MBE)A wall-mounted plate that accepts a magnetic belt end. Compatible with all RETRACTA-BELT post and wall-mounted models specified with a magnetic belt end — add receivers wherever you want the same unit to terminate.
Loop Belt End Receiver (RE6500)The purpose-built receiver for the loop belt end that ships as standard on the 65′ WM6500. Two screws into the wall or column and the loop drops over the upright post.
WM6500 Swivel Wall Bracket (WP6500)Required hardware for the 65′ utility head. The 6″ × 8″ plate lets the head swivel so the belt can be pulled out at any angle instead of only straight ahead.
Replacement Heads & PartsIndividual replacement parts are stocked for every RETRACTA-BELT wall mount, and complete replacement heads are available for the WM412 series. A frayed belt or a tired spring does not mean a new plate or a new hole in the wall.
Belt Ends & Belt ChoicesThree belt-end styles — standard universal, magnetic and S-hook — and 25 stock belt colors, eight preprinted safety belts (CAUTION-DO NOT ENTER, DANGER-KEEP OUT, NO ENTRY, AUTHORIZED ACCESS ONLY, THIS LANE CLOSED and three diagonal patterns), plus one-color silk screen or full-color dye-sublimation printing.
The WM700 in Detail
The 10′ WM700 is the premium short-span head, and the one most often chosen where the barrier is in full view of customers. A 2.5″ diameter steel or stainless case only 4.75″ high disappears against a counter end or a door jamb, and the finish range — three stock finishes, 19 specialty finishes and more than 200 RAL powder-coat colors — means it can be matched to hardware rather than tolerated.
It carries the same mounting and belt-end options as the larger heads, so a WM700 at a reception desk and a WM412 across a service corridor can share one belt color, one belt message and one type of receiving end.

1. Measure the span, then add margin
Measure from the mounting surface to the point where the belt will terminate and choose the next belt length up. A retractable belt should never be pulled to its stop to make an opening — that is what wears out springs and frays belt edges. Remember that custom-printed belts finish about a foot shorter than their nominal length, so a printed 15′ belt is not the same as a stock 15′ belt across a 14′ opening.
2. Identify the mounting surface honestly
Drywall, block, steel column, round pipe, rack upright, glass partition and elevator jamb all take different plates, and the difference matters more than the head. Steel means a magnet plate and no fasteners; round columns mean a hose clamp; a finished interior often means a recessed unit with a door, which has to be planned before the wall is closed up. Photograph each location before ordering.
3. Decide how the belt terminates
Standard belt ends need a plastic receiving end; magnetic belt ends can land on a magnetic receiver or straight onto steel; S-hook ends need nothing but something to hook. For long spans the receiver is not optional: the 50′ WM5000 requires the heavy-duty HDRE and the 65′ WM6500’s standard loop end requires the RE6500.
4. Choose the belt for the message, not just the color
A belt is the cheapest signage in the building. Eight preprinted safety belts cover most industrial needs, and custom printing puts a department name, a safety instruction or your branding across the opening. Fluorescent yellow and fluorescent orange cannot be printed double-sided because the ink bleeds through — pick a different stock color if the message has to read from both directions.
5. Standardize across the building
Facilities that pick one belt color per meaning — yellow diagonal for hazards, black for queue management, red for closed — get compliance without training anyone. Standardizing also means one spare belt and one spare head cover every barrier you own.
