State of Utah Shelving Contract
Aurora shelving is now available to Utah state agencies through Sourcewell contract 110923-KRS. Compare stationary shelving, mobile storage and rotary filing, then request a project-specific quote.

Aurora shelving for Utah agencies through Sourcewell
Looking for the State of Utah shelving contract? Aurora Storage products are available to state agencies through Sourcewell cooperative purchasing. Material Handling USA can help you identify the shelving you need, develop a storage plan and request a project quote using the appropriate contract purchasing route.

Our role is practical: understand the items you store, compare appropriate systems, prepare the equipment scope and separate the other project costs. For the wider product range, explore our shelving solutions hub. For local layout and supply support, see Utah shelving.
Shop Shelving for Agency Stockrooms
These are standard retail shelving products and catalog prices, not Aurora Sourcewell contract prices. For an Aurora agency purchase, room layout, freight or installation, request a separate written project quote.
Browse shop shelving categories, compare steel shelving or review boltless shelving before selecting a unit. An add-on section is not the same as a complete starter; confirm the full bill of materials before ordering.
Three storage options from the original contract listing
The original Nationwide page highlights stationary shelving, high-density mobile shelving and Times-2 Speed Files. They serve different jobs. Choose around the material, retrieval pattern and building, rather than treating every storage room as the same shelving purchase.
| System | Useful starting point | What to resolve before quoting |
|---|---|---|
| Stationary shelving | Open files, archive boxes, supplies and hand-loaded stock | Item dimensions, shelf loading, aisle access and whether you need open or closed sides. |
| High-density mobile shelving | A room where reducing permanently open aisles could create more storage space | Floor suitability, access frequency, carriage layout and required safety features. |
| Times-2 rotary cabinets | Office filing that needs a compact cabinet arrangement | Folder format, internal fittings, operating clearance and access to each cabinet. |
For Aurora product details, visit our Aurora shelving guide. Ask us to identify the contract-covered configuration on your quote, including any options, delivery and installation services.
Stationary shelving for files, boxes and supplies
Keep everyday retrieval straightforward
Stationary shelving leaves the access aisle open. It is a useful starting point where staff need frequent access to different sections, or where a room combines files, boxed records and ordinary supplies. The shelf depth and usable opening should fit the actual container, not just a nominal box description.
Tell us whether records are in folders, binders or lidded cartons. For supplies, list both the largest item and the heaviest expected shelf load. Shelf dividers, closed backs and side panels should follow the way the room is used. Compare the structural choices in our steel shelving guide.

For a maintenance stockroom, boltless shelving may be a better comparison than office file shelving. Deck material, small-parts containers and access to the bottom level all affect daily use. A wide shelf that suits cartons may be awkward for individual folders; a shallow filing shelf may not support the supply-room containers you need. Separate those storage groups on the inventory before laying out rows.
High-density mobile shelving when floor space is the constraint

Plan around the aisle as well as the shelf
Mobile shelving places storage sections on moving carriages so an access aisle can be opened where it is needed. That can make better use of a fixed room than a layout with an aisle permanently open between every row. The right solution depends on how often people retrieve material and how many users need access at once.
The original listing mentions manual, mechanical-assist and electrical operation. Treat those as options to evaluate, not interchangeable packages. Start with our Utah mobile shelving overview and share the room conditions before choosing a drive system.
A mobile system needs more than a count of shelving bays. Ask the project team to review floor loading, floor condition, rail or floor interface, entry transitions and aisle safety. A supplier layout is not structural approval. Building-specific engineering, accessibility and fire-protection decisions belong with the responsible design professionals and local authorities. Identify those reviews early so the equipment quote does not become the last step before an unexpected building change.
Times-2 Speed Files for office records
Compare cabinet access with open shelving
Times-2 Speed Files provide rotary cabinet storage for files and other office materials. They are worth comparing when the storage task is close to desks or work areas, and when an enclosed cabinet layout suits the office better than an open shelving aisle.
Share the actual folder size and filing method. Letter and legal files, binders and other materials call for different internal arrangements. Check cabinet placement and operating clearance rather than selecting a unit by exterior width alone. Our Times-2 Speed Files guide explains the product family and planning considerations.

If you already have rotary cabinets, send photographs and identifying information before requesting additional units or fittings. An existing room layout is useful, but an old quote is not proof that a current item will match. Keep replacement, expansion and new-system requests clearly separated so the supplier can confirm the correct scope.
Utah public-agency shelving applications
Sourcewell participation is open to eligible public entities, including government agencies and educational organizations. These six applications show how storage requirements vary across Utah facilities. Match the equipment to the task, then confirm the purchasing details for your organization.
City and county records rooms
Group active files separately from longer-term boxes. Decide what staff retrieve daily and what can be stored less accessibly. Our Utah government records-room planning guide starts with the record inventory and retention questions.
State agency office filing
Compare open stationary files and rotary cabinets around the way staff work. Include shared access, folder format and the room’s daily circulation in the brief, rather than quoting only a total number of cabinets.
School district maintenance shops
Organize boxed hardware, tools and service supplies by the items crews actually issue. Compare shelf depths and deck choices in our boltless shelving guide; treat long stock as a separate storage problem.
Library materials and back rooms
Distinguish public book stacks from cartons, circulating equipment and distribution stock. The material format and handling method determine whether shelving, cabinet storage or warehouse rack is the better route.
Public works parts storage
List heavy replacement parts, boxed supplies and small components separately. Record load information and how items are lifted. A shelf layout that fits the floor plan still has to suit the work performed there.
Museum and collection support
Start with the object inventory, handling practices and environmental requirements. Plan shelf openings and retrieval access with the collection team, and do not assume a standard office-file arrangement fits sensitive objects.
What to send for an agency shelving quote
A useful quote starts with a clear brief. You do not need a finished architectural drawing to begin, but you do need enough information to distinguish the equipment, building work and purchasing requirements. Send a simple sketch and photographs through the quote form, or call to discuss how to share larger files.
1. Inventory and growth
List what you store, container dimensions, the quantity now and the growth you want to allow for. Keep folders, cartons, binders, parts and oversized items in separate groups. Include load information where available; do not estimate a shelf capacity from appearance.
2. Room and access
Show walls, columns, doors, swings, ceiling obstructions and the route from receiving to the room. Identify any stairs, elevators, loading restrictions or occupied areas that affect delivery. Note whether the floor is new, existing or awaiting review.
3. People and workflow
Explain who retrieves material, how often, and whether several people work in the room at the same time. Include carts, sorting tables and other tasks that need floor space. Capacity is useful only if the room remains workable.
4. Purchasing requirements
Provide the agency name, delivery location, requested quote format and any contract number your purchasing office has identified. Ask which documents are needed for review and whether the order requires separate equipment and service line items.
For an expansion, add the manufacturer and model information from the existing system plus clear photographs of uprights, shelf connections and labels. Compatibility should be verified before ordering, especially where a new bay would connect to existing shelving. For a new system, concentrate on storage requirements first and compare complete layouts rather than isolated component prices.
Separate equipment pricing from the complete project scope
An online shelf price is only one piece of a room project. Ask for a written scope that identifies what is supplied and what remains with your agency or other contractors. This makes competing proposals easier to compare and gives purchasing staff a clearer basis for approval.
| Scope item | Question to resolve |
|---|---|
| Shelving and fittings | Which starter units, add-ons, shelves, dividers, panels and other fittings are included? |
| Freight and receiving | Where will the shipment be delivered, who unloads it and how does it reach the room? |
| Assembly and installation | Who assembles and positions the system, and what anchoring or other work is specified? |
| Building and professional review | Are floor, fire protection, accessibility, seismic or permit reviews needed, and who handles them? |
| Moving existing contents | Who clears the room, packs materials and reloads the finished storage? |
| Schedule and handover | What lead time is confirmed on the quote, and how is the room returned to use? |
The original Nationwide page also mentions pallet rack, security cages, guard booths and other facility products. Those are separate equipment categories, not evidence that all of them are available under MA1231 or a successor agreement. If the project includes several categories, identify each scope explicitly and have purchasing verify the route for each one.
From room requirements to a purchase-ready proposal
Define the storage
Share your inventory, room sketch and workflow so the system solves the actual storage problem.
Compare layouts
Evaluate stationary, mobile or rotary storage with the building and access constraints in view.
Confirm the scope
Review equipment, freight, installation responsibilities and any required professional checks.
Check procurement
Have your purchasing office verify the current agreement or other approved buying route before ordering.
If you are comparing storage with taking more space, begin with the capacity you can realistically gain in the existing room. Consider the cost of moving contents, staff access and building changes alongside equipment cost. A denser arrangement may be useful, but a blanket claim that it will pay for itself is not a substitute for a project-specific comparison.
Utah public-sector storage case studies
These published MH-USA projects illustrate public-sector storage needs in Utah. They are historical project examples, not purchases represented as made under the current Aurora Sourcewell route.
School district carpenter-shop shelving
A Salt Lake Valley school district specified boltless rivet shelving for a facilities carpenter shop. The published project explains the shelving and the historical purchasing paperwork. Read the school maintenance shelving case study.
State library distribution storage
A Salt Lake City public-agency warehouse needed pallet racking for library materials and equipment. This is a related warehouse-storage example, not office shelving. Read the library distribution storage case study.
For projects in Salt Lake City, Ogden, Provo, Sandy, the wider Wasatch Front or elsewhere in Utah, provide the delivery location early. Site access, receiving arrangements and travel or installation requirements should be assessed for the actual facility. A statewide service inquiry is not the same as a guaranteed delivery date or an included installation allowance.
