Three Fasco ELN-772 non-pass-through evidence lockers for a U.S. Army installation in southeastern Oklahoma, quoted and ordered as three separate purchases so each one fit the plant’s single-purchase limit. Project Overview

McAlester Army Ammunition Plant in McAlester, Oklahoma, needed secure, lockable storage for evidence. The plant’s team called Material Handling USA in June 2026, and our Director of Sales worked with them through configuration, quoting and ordering. The plant is a returning customer: our team first supplied steel shelving to the installation more than a decade ago, under our earlier Nationwide Shelving name.

The Challenge: Secure Evidence Storage on a Government Budget

The plant needed dedicated evidence lockers: steel compartments that lock when closed so items stay secure until an authorized person opens them with a key. General storage cabinets and shared shelving do not give that kind of control.

The harder part was purchasing. Each order had to stay under the plant’s single-purchase limit, and government funding moved one step at a time. As the buyer put it, it was a slow process, but they were going through every step. The project had to work as several small, separate buys rather than one large order.

ControlEvidence had to be stored in compartments that only authorized staff can open with a key.
Purchasing limitsEvery locker had to fit under a single-purchase limit, so the order was split into separate buys.
Room for growthThe buyer wanted more space for the main evidence area, which led to the largest 15-compartment unit.

Choosing Non-Pass-Through Over Pass-Through Lockers

We started by sending Fasco’s evidence locker configuration sheet so the buyer could pick layouts by compartment count. Fasco builds the same EL-772 locker body in two versions: ELP (pass-through) and ELN (non-pass-through).

The buyer first looked at a pass-through model for one area. A pass-through locker is built into a wall, loaded from the hallway side and emptied from inside the evidence room. In the end the plant chose non-pass-through units with key access for all three lockers. They load and unload from the front, need no framed wall opening, and can stand against any wall.

Question Pass-through (ELP) Non-pass-through (ELN, chosen)
Where it goes In a framed opening in the wall shared with the evidence room Against any wall, freestanding on its base
How items come out Rear doors on the evidence room side Front doors, opened with a key
Construction work Wall opening and trim on both sides None beyond anchoring
Best fit A main intake wall next to a secure evidence room Rooms with no shared wall, smaller sites, phased buys

What We Supplied

The plant ordered three Fasco ELN-772 non-pass-through evidence lockers, each in a different compartment layout. Mixing layouts gives the team large doors for bulky items and smaller doors for bagged evidence, with 32 locking compartments in total. The photos in the page header show the 10-compartment and 15-compartment configurations.

ELN-772-0107: 7 compartmentsThe smallest layout of the three, with fewer, larger doors for bulky or long items.
ELN-772-0110: 10 compartmentsTwo large upper doors, two tall full-height doors and six smaller doors in one unit.
ELN-772-0115: 15 compartmentsThe largest of the three: three upper doors over two columns of smaller doors, one with a drop slot.

Why mixed compartment sizes? Evidence comes in every shape: small bags, boxed items, clothing and long items. A locker bank with only small doors fills up fast with one bulky item, and a bank of only large doors wastes space on small bags. Choosing three different layouts let the plant cover both.

Each Fasco locker ships fully welded and assembled, so there is nothing to bolt together on site. The units were quoted with freight to the jobsite. Unloading and placement are handled by the customer, which is common on material-only government orders.

How We Structured the Purchase

Government buyers often have firm limits on how much one purchase can be. Instead of forcing a single large order, we built the project around the plant’s buying rules.

1

Configurations

We sent Fasco’s configuration sheet and asked for the ship-to city, state and ZIP for freight.

2

First quote

We quoted the first two lockers the buyer picked on one quote letter.

3

Split quotes

The buyer asked for separate quotes, so we issued three, one per locker, each under the limit.

4

Three orders

The plant placed three separate orders, and we placed each one with the manufacturer.

The first locker was ordered in early September 2026. The second and third were ordered together at the end of the month so all three could ship close together. We confirmed all three were on order with the manufacturer the same day.

This kind of phased buying is common on military and government projects. Our military and government storage page covers other equipment we supply to installations, including TA-50 gear lockers.

Planning Lessons for Military and Government Evidence Lockers

Hand-drawn evidence room floor plan with storage ranges, an intake area and a locker wall

Every evidence room is different, but this project shows a few things worth planning for early. The biggest one: tell your supplier about purchasing limits at the start. It is easy to quote one locker per order. Re-quoting late in the process slows everything down.

It also helps to decide early whether you need pass-through or non-pass-through lockers, because that choice decides whether a contractor has to cut and frame a wall. For room layout help, see our evidence room design service.

Share purchase limits up frontWe can split a project into separate quotes, one per locker, so each fits your single-purchase limit.
Plan around lead timeEvidence lockers are built to order. Fasco quoted 10 to 12 weeks, so order before the room needs them.
Have tax paperwork readyTax-exempt buyers should send the certificate with the first order so every invoice is right.
Plan receivingMaterial-only orders ship freight to the site. Plan who unloads, moves and anchors the lockers.
Mix compartment sizesPick layouts that match your items: large doors for bulky evidence, small doors for bags.
Decide on key controlDecide who holds keys before the lockers arrive, and write it into your evidence policy.

Evidence Locker Project FAQs

What did McAlester Army Ammunition Plant buy?
Three Fasco ELN-772 non-pass-through evidence lockers in 7-compartment, 10-compartment and 15-compartment configurations, 32 locking compartments in total, for evidence storage.
What is a non-pass-through evidence locker?
A non-pass-through evidence locker loads and unloads from the same side. Compartments lock when closed and are opened with a key, so it can stand against any wall without a framed opening into the evidence room.
Why were the lockers ordered as three separate purchases?
The plant had a single-purchase limit. We issued one quote per locker so each order stayed under that limit, and the plant placed three separate orders.
How long do Fasco evidence lockers take to arrive?
On this project Fasco quoted a lead time of about 10 to 12 weeks. Lead times change with demand, so we confirm them on every quote.
Do you sell evidence lockers to military bases and government agencies?
Yes. We quote evidence lockers for military installations, police departments, sheriff’s offices and other agencies nationwide, including separate quotes when a purchase limit applies.
Can you install evidence lockers?
Fasco lockers ship fully assembled. Material-only orders like this one ship freight to the site for the customer to place. Ask us about installation when you request a quote.
What information do you need to quote evidence lockers?
Tell us the compartment layouts you want, pass-through or non-pass-through, lock type, your ship-to city, state and ZIP, and any purchase limit we should plan around.
