Penco pallet rack is still standing in many warehouses, but MH-USA no longer supplies new Penco pallet rack systems. If you’re adding bays, replacing damaged parts or reconfiguring an older Penco system, start by identifying exactly what you have — frame depth and height, beam length and face height, and the connector style. Color alone won’t tell you whether a part fits.
How to recognize Penco pallet rack: Penco’s line was a slotted, roll-formed selective rack. It was sold in a standard heavy-duty version with three-prong beam connectors and a seismic version (marketed as Pallet Rack Plus) with four-prong connectors and larger foot plates. Beams used a safety lock tab and recessed safety key, and the rack was offered in many powder-coat colors. If your rack has labels or load plaques, photograph them — they are the most reliable way to confirm the manufacturer.
Before ordering beams, frames or parts for an older Penco system, record what you have. Measure only what you can reach safely from the floor, on unloaded parts:
Color is not an identifier. Many manufacturers use similar orange, blue, green or gray finishes, so a color match says nothing about fit or capacity. Our pallet rack identification & compatibility guide walks through each measurement and what to photograph.
Beams and uprights from different manufacturers can look alike yet differ in hole or slot pattern, connector geometry and rated capacity. The Rack Manufacturers Institute (RMI) advises against mixing manufacturers’ components unless a qualified design professional confirms the specific combination, and published capacities generally assume every component comes from the same maker. Any mixed-brand connection on Penco rack should be confirmed by the manufacturer or a qualified engineer before it’s loaded.

Don’t assume they will. Connector shape, slot spacing and safety locks differ between manufacturers, and a beam that seats is not the same as a rated combination. RMI advises that mixed components be confirmed by a qualified design professional. Send measurements and photos and we’ll flag likely mismatches before anything is ordered.
