Choosing the Right Bin Shelving Build

Match bin size to part velocity. The most common mistake we see in Utah storerooms is one bin size everywhere. Fast movers belong in short, wide bins between waist and shoulder height; slow movers and overstock go in deeper bins or on the top and bottom levels. Shelf spacing should let a picker read the label without pulling the bin.

Use the height you already have. Many Wasatch Front parts rooms and storerooms have more clear height than their current shelving uses. Taller units with more levels usually beat a wider footprint, as long as the tallest levels are reserved for lighter, slower stock and any tall run is anchored.
