Lead time in Utah has less to do with mileage than access: a downtown high-rise with a freight elevator is a different delivery than a Provo strip-center restaurant with one back door, or a Park City resort kitchen that receives before 10 a.m. We ask about the receiving side up front so freight and the delivery window are real numbers. Installation is its own line item — Super Erecta self-assembles without tools, but anchored units, track systems and after-hours retrofits need crew time booked a week or two out.

Seismic Anchoring Realities on the Wasatch Front
This is the biggest difference between buying Metro shelving in Utah and buying it elsewhere. The Wasatch Front sits in a high seismic design category, and building officials look closely at storage that is tall, heavy or in an occupied room.
Anchoring requirements come from your jurisdiction, your engineer and the occupancy of the room — not from a product catalog and not from us. The manufacturer supplies hardware and documentation; the engineer of record decides what the assembly must resist and how it attaches. We will not call a unit "code compliant" because that call is not ours.
What we do is quote the right parts and get you the paperwork. Metro’s seismic program includes SiteSelect posts, one-post and multi-post base plate kits in triangular, square and rectangular patterns, standard and stainless post clamps, threaded foot plate kits and sway brace kits for site-specific approvals — all far cheaper with the original order than as a retrofit.
- Anchored to slab or wall? Base plate pattern and bolt count are set by the engineer — kits come in 2-3 bolt triangular, 4-bolt square and 5-bolt rectangular patterns
- Ganged runs? Seismic post clamps tie posts together, with stainless versions for wet rooms
- Lateral bracing? Sway brace kits exist for site-specific approvals
- Load and height drive the calculation, and slab condition matters as much as the hardware

The Utah economy sends us a specific mix of Metro work, and the finish that fits one of these is often wrong for the next.
Two Utah patterns worth naming. Our dry climate lets chrome last longer in a dry stockroom than it would on the coast, but a walk-in cooler or brewery floor here is as wet as anywhere — that is where epoxy and polymer belong. And resort and campus operations load storage rooms hard for a few months a year, so shelving sized for the average month fails in the peak. We keep customer names confidential, but on request we will walk you through comparable Utah installations.
Site Survey and Measure Before You Order
A free site survey is the cheapest insurance on a shelving order. In the Salt Lake City area we come out; elsewhere in Utah we work from a scheduled run or your photos and dimensions.
We record room dimensions and out-of-square walls, door and elevator clearances, ceiling and sprinkler heights, slab condition where anchors may land, drains in wet rooms, the aisle width your carts need, and what is overflowing onto the floor today. Then we configure shelf sizes, post heights, mobile versus stationary, finish per room, accessories, and whether high-density track buys more storage than another aisle would.
Retrofits and Add-Ons in Existing Utah Facilities
Most of our Utah Metro work is not a new build. It is a store, kitchen, cooler or supply room that already has shelving and needs more storage, better sanitation or a different layout — without closing.
Match before you mix: existing posts, shelf depths and groove spacing decide what can be added. Send photos of a post with the numbered groove pattern and a shelf dimension and we can usually tell you whether add-ons integrate or the run should be replaced.
Then work in phases — one bay at a time in an operating kitchen, overnight in grocery backrooms, with coordinated access in hospitals. And use the retrofit to fix the finish: replacing flaking chrome in a walk-in with more chrome just resets the clock.
