Pallet rack for Las Vegas Valley warehouses
Las Vegas sits within a day’s truck drive of the Southern California ports, which is why so much distribution space has been built here. The big-box buildings are in North Las Vegas and the Apex Industrial Park along I-15, with mid-size and flex space along the Southwest and 215 Beltway corridor and advanced manufacturing in Henderson. Behind the casinos, the resort corridor also runs on warehouses that hold food and beverage, linens, furniture, fixtures and trade show materials.
Material Handling USA has designed, supplied and installed storage systems since 1997. We are based in Salt Lake City, a one-day drive up I-15, and we serve Las Vegas from our Southern Nevada line at 702-576-6093. This page covers what matters for a Las Vegas project: which rack types fit which operations, what Clark County and the City of Las Vegas require before racks and high-piled storage go in, how desert heat and concrete floors affect the design, and how delivery and installation work.
For rack types, capacities and planning in more depth, start with our main warehouse pallet racking guide. For long loads like lumber, pipe and steel, see our cantilever rack in Las Vegas page.
Pallet rack types we supply in Las Vegas
The right system depends on how many SKUs you carry, how many pallets of each, and how fast they turn. This table matches common Las Vegas operations to the rack that usually fits them.
| Rack type | Best for | Typical Las Vegas users |
|---|---|---|
| Selective pallet rack | Many SKUs, direct access to every pallet | 3PLs, distributors, e-commerce, manufacturers |
| Double-deep rack | More positions per aisle, two pallets deep | Beverage and grocery distributors with several pallets per SKU |
| Push-back rack | 2 to 6 pallets deep, last in first out | Food and beverage, hospitality supply, seasonal stock |
| Drive-in rack | Deep lanes of the same product, highest density | Cold storage, bulk goods, single-SKU staging |
| Pallet flow rack | First in first out, gravity-fed lanes | Dated food and beverage, high-volume picking |
| Carton flow rack | Case and each picking at the pick face | E-commerce and parts fulfillment |
| Narrow-aisle rack | More rows where aisles can shrink | Buildings with reach trucks or turret trucks |
| Structural rack | Heavy loads and forklift abuse | Heavy manufacturing, freezer and drive-in systems |

High-density options for Las Vegas distributors
Many Las Vegas distributors carry a few hundred SKUs with several pallets of each. Selective rack wastes space in that case, because each pallet needs its own aisle face.
Push-back stores pallets on nested carts 2 to 6 deep, loaded and unloaded from the same aisle. Pallet flow loads at the back and picks from the front, so the oldest pallet ships first. Drive-in gives the most positions per square foot but works best when a lane holds one SKU.
A mixed layout is common: selective rack for slow movers, push-back or flow for fast, deep SKUs.
Pallet rack applications in Las Vegas
Trade show and hospitality storage
Convention and resort suppliers store crates, carpet rolls, signage and display pieces that arrive and leave on short notice. Pallet rack with wire decking holds odd-shaped and loose items safely, and lets sprinkler water reach lower levels, which solid plywood decks can block.
Match each deck’s rated capacity to the beam and the load and post capacity signs at every bay. Our pallet racking weight capacity guide explains how beam, deck and frame ratings work together.

Southern Nevada and Southwest Utah pallet rack projects
We have not yet completed a pallet rack project inside the Las Vegas Valley, so these are real Closed Won projects from elsewhere in Nevada and the nearby I-15 corridor. We describe the business and the work, but we don’t publish client names, layouts, quantities or prices.
Most of these customers started with a few bays and added rows later. That is why we design with standard frame depths and beam lengths, so later bays match. If you already have rack and need to add to it, our pallet rack identification and compatibility guide explains how to match what you own.
Las Vegas permits and code for pallet racking
Permits are where Las Vegas projects most often lose time, and two separate agencies are involved: the building department that reviews the rack itself, and the fire department that reviews high-piled storage. Which agency depends on your address. The City of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson and unincorporated Clark County each have their own offices, so confirm requirements for your address before you order. The rules below are summarized from published Clark County and City of Las Vegas guides.
Current code. Clark County’s Building Department adopted the 2024 International Building Codes effective January 11, 2026, with Southern Nevada amendments, and its fire guide lists the 2024 International Fire Code and NFPA 13, 2022 edition, with Clark County Fire Code amendments.

Fire: the high-piled storage permit
Clark County Fire Prevention requires a high-piled combustible storage permit when storage reaches more than 12 feet on pallets, in racks or on shelves, or more than 6 feet for high-hazard commodities such as rubber tires, Group A plastics, flammable liquids and idle pallets. Its guide also lists a storage area over 500 square feet including aisles.
It is an operational permit, renewed every year. Changing commodities, rack heights, rack arrangements or aisle widths means a permit revision.
The City of Las Vegas has its own Submittal Guide for High Piled Storage Permits. It asks for a floor plan, the usable storage height for each area, the number of tiers in each rack, clearance between the top of storage and the sprinkler deflector, aisle dimensions, commodity classification, and details of the sprinklers protecting the area. Clark County’s high-piled storage guide asks for similar information. Planning that before you order is far cheaper than lowering beam levels after review. Our warehouse fire safety and flue space guide covers the sprinkler side.
Building: the storage rack permit
Clark County’s technical guideline TG-75 Storage Racks covers the building permit for racks. In general, racks 8 feet tall or less are exempt, and taller rack needs a permit, with a lighter path for small installations between 8 and 12 feet with unit loads up to 2,500 lb. A permit submittal typically includes:
- A site plan showing where the rack sits and how people exit the building
- A floor plan with aisle widths, and a dimensioned elevation of each rack configuration
- The unit load, which is the total weight of the product and pallet each beam level will hold
- The rack manufacturer’s name, and a statement of whether the rack is new or used
- A permanent load plaque posted on the rack showing the maximum permitted unit load
Rack is designed to ANSI/MH16.1, the industrial steel storage rack standard, and anchored to the slab. Seismic demand in Southern Nevada is moderate, much lower than the Wasatch Front, but it is still part of the rack design. See our pallet rack seismic compliance notes and our guide to permits and engineering for pallet rack.
Desert buildings, heat and concrete floors
Tilt-up concrete. Most Las Vegas warehouses are tilt-up concrete buildings with slabs-on-grade. Before you anchor rack, confirm slab thickness and strength, and look for cracks and joints where frames will land. Anchors need to sit away from slab joints and edges. Our concrete slab requirements for pallet racking guide explains slab thickness, strength and joint spacing.
Clear height. New bulk distribution buildings in North Las Vegas and Apex commonly offer 32 feet or more of clear height, while older Southwest and Henderson buildings are lower. Tall rack uses the height, but it also changes the sprinkler design and almost always pushes storage past the 12-foot high-piled threshold.
Heat. Summer temperatures well over 100 degrees mean warehouse air can get hot, especially in buildings without full cooling. Steel rack handles heat well, but loaded product, plastic packaging and shrink wrap can soften or slump. Plan load units and wrap with that in mind, and keep product off the top level where heat collects directly under the roof.
Mezzanines. If you need more space for small parts and offices rather than pallets, a mezzanine can add a second floor above the work area.

New vs. used pallet racking in Las Vegas
A lot of Las Vegas buyers search for used pallet racking first, and there is plenty of it for sale in the valley. Before you count on the savings, it helps to know where the money actually goes.
Used savings are usually used up by installation. Rack that has been taken down and moved rarely goes back together cleanly. Bent columns need replacing, connectors don’t seat well, and mixed batches don’t line up. The installer time spent straightening and fitting used parts often costs more than the difference in price, so new rack frequently ends up cheaper once it’s installed. Clark County also asks permit applicants to say whether rack is new or used.
Reusing rack you already own can work, especially for a straight move of a known system. Even then, new parts are sometimes cheaper after the fix-up time is counted.
The quickest way to decide is a call to our sales team with pictures of the rack, the upright labels and the connectors. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s worth installing. Our used vs. new pallet rack guide explains the trade-offs in more detail, and our pallet rack cost and pricing guide shows how to compare quotes.
